The Past, The Present and The Future series. Pastor Mark Smith

What do we do in planning for the future?

Without preparation – you’ll be embarrassed.

Obviously we cannot prepare for everything, and we need to trust God for those times, but God does want us to be wise and invest for the future! 1Timothy 6: 17 -19

Lay up treasure. This is speaking of finances but it can also apply to our gifts and talents. We are told to be good! And to do good! To be generous and willing to share!

What we do with what we have now governs what results are eternal.

Faithfulness is rewarded… we need to be faithful with what we have.

Take hold of those things that are life… things that are truly life

Matthew 25: 14 -28 (Parable of the talents)

Make something good with what you are given … large or small.

Psalm 126

Sometimes (in fact quite often) we are sowing in the midst of tough time, winter days, and times of unhappiness or sorrow! Sowing in times when we don’t know what the future will bring, when we feel we don’t have much to sow. Sow anyway!

It causes you to grow and develop personally and in faith.

Remember that the reaping comes with joy!

Sowing – in every season – good bad, sad, etc brings us out of the “everything is against me” mentality… makes us into givers and it brings about change.

Hosea 2 - it’s a principle of God … he does it too!

Hosea 10 v 12 -13

Sow for yourselves – righteousness… depending on God and don’t be self reliant.

Seek God’s face – we come alive when we seek the Lord, and He brings His peace.

Galatians 6 v 8-10

It’s very simple… be good! Sow good things to all people, especially to those that are fellow believers! Be generous!

Think about what sort of future do we want for our homes, our town, and our nation?

Sow now and keep sowing. In your work place start sowing for change there. A seed is a small thing, but can produce a large plant. Sowing is love, joy, serving, going the extra mile…….. YOU REAP WHAT YOU SOW!

Sowing in these ways is the start to a transformed community.

This week

SOW … into people – your families, church, work place … sow through a phone call, a visit, a cake, coffee, gift, time.

Sow into church by owning it!  Your life, and your sowing brings about the Change.

Go for it!
